Part 20
2. Listening blog or diary
Learning English means to change your habits. Instead of listening to audio media in your mother tongue, you need to 'feed your ears' with English on a constant basis. To start and monitor this process you should keep a 'listening blog' or diary. This is a calendar in which you write down all the information regarding your listening and learning experiences. There are a great variety of technical solutions for your blog -- you can either use a simple paper based notebook and a pen or you can publish your progress report on an Internet blog. You will see examples of how you should use your listening blog in further sections of this book.
3. Glossary Once you start listening to English audio resources on a regular basis, your brain will absorb a lot of new words and phrases which you might want to write down from time to time. For this purpose you should create your own glossary. A glossary is similar to a dictionary but it's a bit more specific than that. Your glossary should contain words and phrases you come across during your listening activities. It is best if you somehow integrate your glossary into your listening blog or link both items to each other. We will show you examples of how to use your glossary later.
4. Internet resources and activities
Winners know how to use the Internet in an effective way because it is the most versatile interactive medium that has ever been created. The Internet gives you access to a great wealth of information and most importantly it allows you to connect with other people no matter how far from them them or close to them you might be located. If you want to learn English like a winner you need to develop the habit of using the Internet on a daily basis. On every online trip you will come across something new, meet new people and learn new skills and information. Read on to find more details on how you can harness the power of the Internet to your best advantage.
