Hello! I understand the phrase 'weigh down'. I think it's mean to make the letter less valuable. But what does 'the front of your letter' mean? Why is it the front and not the impact or contents? Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question ;-) Ronan

Weigh down here means overload (put too much information in) and the front of the letter means the beginning of the letter.

The whole sentence is the suggestion that you shouldn't put too much information right at the beginning of your letter.
