Why cannot the train remain at the platform? #1 (permalink) Wed Jun 28, 2006 14:02 pm   Why cannot the train remain at the platform?

Hi,

I've got a question.

Why cannot the train remain at the platform?

May not the word "remaining" be placed instead of "standing" here?

Thank you for the answer.

Stand/remain #2 (permalink) Wed Jun 28, 2006 14:27 pm   Stand/remain

Hi pivosz,

A train is standing at platform 4 means it is there/present/available

A train is remaining at platform 4 means it has not moved from there/it is staying behind and the suggestion is that it should have left.
