Everything is balck & gold,
Black & gold tonight,
Yellow pumpkins, yellow moon,
Yellow canglelight.
Black & gold, black & gold
Nothing in between-
When the world turns black & gold,
Then is HALLOWEEN!!!

Halloween in Russia? Mon Nov 01, 2004 9:06 am  Halloween in Russia?

Hi Jailbird,

Thank you for reminding us of Halloween. You probably know that this tradition goes back as far as two thousand years when the Celts occupied what we today know as Ireland and the UK. They used to celebrate the the new year on November 1st. Back then the festival was called Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts believed that on New Year's Eve (October 31st), spirits (the souls of death people) were able to cross the line between their world and the world of Celt's and that they could stay if they were able to find a body they could keep. Obviously, none of the living wanted to have another spirit inside of them and so they made their homes as uninviting as possible.
So, what about you? Did you make your home uninviting yesterday Wink?
