Hi Torsten!
I found your idea very useful, since I read your topic here, I have started to listen to BBC or CNN or other English channels, by the time I began to understand much more than before, which means that I came across with a very important vocabulary in different fields, actually I can understand native speaker easily and without any problems.
This morning I listened to BBC news and I gathered the main headlines...include,
-Brazil confirm that they finally found French plane debris floating over the Atlantic Ocean.
-President Obama visiting Middle East .
That is what I remember now..

Hi Torsten,

What Can I say? I'll try this approach =)
I have noticed that when I'm listening something while doing my daily activities I'm not concerned about the information I'm receiving at all.
Now I try to develop my own learning system by your advice. But what should I do with the grammar? I understand that I will not be able to learning English grammar every day (with listening it's much more easier)..

Thanks for your help.

I think, it's a good and usefully idea mr. Torsten, but I haven't time, because my job take a more time, if I rest or have free time my daughter ask me play with her. When I say before it's perfect idea, and the next week I will start listening radio or book. By the way anybody know where in intranet I can listen radio and hear music in English. I will pleased if you help me.

Hi Bek,

The idea of the 30/30 Challenge is to surround yourself with spoken English for at least 60 minutes per day. To do that you don't need any more time. All you need is to change your habits. For example, you can have CNN or the BBC play in the background while you are having breakfast or even while you are playing with your child. You can listen to an audio book while you are commuting to and from work. The 30/30 Challenge doesn't say you should listen to English only in your 'free time'. It says you should try and incorporate spoken English into your daily routines.

As for free listening resources, simply google 'CNN Internet radio' or 'BBC radio' or 'CNBC radio'.

Good luck,
Torsten

Hi Roman,

If you actually complete the 30/30 Challenge you will also learn English grammar as a result. Listen to spoken English and repeat entire phrases. The phrases already contain 'grammar'. That's how you learned Russian. You heard people speak Russian all day and you started to repeat what you heard.

First single sounds, then syllables, then words, then phrases and finally sentences. The 30/30 Challenge enables you to follow the exact same approach. The only difference is that you will learn English much faster than you learned Russian because you already know much more than you did when you were a child.

Regards,
Torsten

Hello Maggie. I have watched your postings for some many weeks now, and I am so impressed with your versatility and dedication to learning all that you can about the English language.

So many start with such good intentions, and then they seem to just disappear from the scene. I think that you on the other hand appreciate the effort that has to be put into progressing, and progressing most importantly, step by step.

Never be hurried. Learn your craft, and learn it well. It will surely pay handsome dividends for you in the future.

Well done Maggie. You are a shining example to others.

Kitos.

Hi, Kitos and everyone

Thanks for giving me so much advice and many encouragements. I got more brave of studying English indeed. In my view, I do think that "Luck favors the prepared mind." Now my English is not good enough, but I hope my English will be perfect in the near future. And I really hope I'll have chance to use English for my job. So I need to take many efforts in it definitely. That's why I learn English so hard. I'm so happy to hear that I can be an example to other English learners.

I'll take your advice and try to make some sentences and speak them out.

Speak to you soon.

Maggie^^

H Kitos, Torsten and everyone

Here is my next topic for 30/30 Challenge.

Discover Tunisia

-Take a language guide , but not a lot of money
It means if you want to visit Tunisia, you don't need to spend much money.
-sandwich between Algeria and Liberia
Eg. Louisiana sandwiches in between Texas and Mississippi.
-financial difficulty
Eg. Because of financial difficlty, we need to save money in case of unemployment.
-don’t offend people
Eg. From time to time, we should speak more carefully to avoid offending others.

Please correct me if available and I speak more details on my voice file actually.

Well, it sounds like something wrong with the "record". I'm not sure weather something is wrong with my computer or not. I'll check it myself later when I come back home because now I'm NOT at home at this moment. I simply study something in a studying center where I also can get on Internet.

Speak to you soon.
