Dear Teacher,
You are right consistency is the key to success but i'm unable to get that why every year i do untiring effort to understand "article n prepositions' but when want to do implemention i can't.I consider myself weak in this context else either literary explantion or other grammatical structures can easily be attempted.
Regards
Waiting for good piece of advice.

Thank's a lot for your help..olivia

Hi everybody,
What I've done is specially, watch movies in english, sometimes I put it with subtitles in english too, because in this way I can see the way of writting and hear the pronunciation., also I listen little dialogues, and I try to repeat at the same time for pronunciation although sometimes it's difficult to do the same pronunciation, I've also studied grammar.
I´ve done this for almost 2 years almost every day at least 1 hour, I've realized I've improved.
Our success depends on our perseverance and patience.

Hello!

I'm agree with the theory that we have to change the habits if we want to learn a foreign language. Some months ago, I can't understand well the 90% of a lecture, a text, a reading, etc. With this course, I began to listen some exercises and now I say that I can understand a 60% up. Not yet, I can't listen to thirty minutes a day, but when I have time I do it. I am really happy about my progress.

I invite you to follow Torsten's advice. They really function.

Bye.

The 30/30 challenge. #654 (permalink) Fri Nov 13, 2009 22:15 pm   The 30/30 challenge.

Hi Alan,
A very cheerful good morning to you.

I have taken up the 30/30 challenge and commited to listen to the authentic material daily atleast for an hour. I have selected to listen to the CNN news on my pc. But the problem that I have been facing for the last four days is, that I have been listening to the news but I am not able to keep all the provided information in my mind. And I just end up with few lines only whatever I listen to. Please tell me what I should do, so that I atleast could be able to keep the full given information in my mind.

Thanks in advance.

Sonia,
Please if you took up the 30/30 challenge, please write in the topic, yesterday I wondered why the topic has disappeared and nobody write there.
I'm facing the same problem - can't keep all the information but the listening is great training the speakers are naturally born english-speaking people

Well, just listen to simple English. Listening to CNN is not all fun and games. You certainly feel bored and annoyed when you listen and can't understand what the person is saying. And when you bored and lose interest, you don't learn. Just listen/read simple things that you will enjoy. It is a tried and true method.

Good luck.

Good morning Happytofita
Thanks for your advice. I know you are learning too. We should help our friends and members as much as we can.

It is a tried(don't use an article before an adjective) ad(and) true method.

"It is a tried" is wrong.= It is tried ....like it is good. (good is adjective)
tied =adjective= past participle and past tense of try
try=noun
you could give it a try.

Tried-and-true is an adjective. We say it is a tried-and-true method to mean that it was used many times before and proved to be successful. We also say tried-and-tested or tried-and-trusted.

"It is a tried-and-true method".

Ok! you have used them as a compound adjective before a noun.
without dashes It would lead to misunderstanding. besides, you had not written "and" before corrections.(It was "ad") just a typo.
Thanks ever so much for your reply, I really appreciate it. I have written a lot today..I'm exhausted. Thank you by the way.
what about this one:

What did you mean?
As you know a typo differs from a mistake.
