Hello everyone, I just want to add this, I truly believe that listening to English conversations, or Tv and radio programs will defenetly help us improve our understanding. Now, How will be the best way to practice our learnings when we don't have anybody to whom speak with?

Hi Adress,

Yes I do recommend watching English movies with English subtitles (not 'english') because this way you will learn both the pronunciation as well as the spelling of new words. What movie are you downloading?

The dialogs in most mainstream movies are easy understand. Otherwise it would be impossible to market them to the masses.

30/30 Challenge How to study English #762 (permalink) Mon Feb 22, 2010 18:15 pm   30/30 Challenge How to study English

Dear Torsten,
I agree with you that the better way to study english is to hear speaking english and also to read english newspaper or books.

The forecasted possibility to learn english watching english programs it isn't easy to do, because I haven't regular time in the morning or in the evening to watch english programs. And also to hear radio while you are driving a car is a lot dangerous . I'm referring to the dealy trafic condition we have in Italy. You should pay always attention while you are driving along the streets in all the italian city.
I'd like to tell you my recent trip to London. I was a little afraid at the beginning because I thought that my english weren't no fluently and easy to understand.
But with my great surprise I could ask information to everebody and they understood my and I understood they. I also understood all the communications in the tube , but I didn't understand well all the information at television, particularly the weather forecast

Just another opinion... #764 (permalink) Tue Feb 23, 2010 21:54 pm   Just another opinion...

I was told by a elementary school teacher that on her classes (for non English-speakers kids) she uses the cartoon network technique as she named it, wich is of course to use any of the animated clasics that we all know. Then I asked her Why cartoon instead of real people. She said that the actor doing voices for this programs are instructed to speak clearly and using a good pronunciation so the children may get better understanding of what they are lisening. Well, I've tried it to myself, and guest what guys! This "cartoon technique" is not to bad. Even thoug I'm in my 40's (not a young brain of course) I still can understan most of what I'm listening. By the way Popeye" is one of my favorites.
Share with you later. Bye.
