It is really a good idea to practice English while you are doing something else. I always listen to BBC when I drive to work and back to home. Sometimes if the topic is interesting to me, I would pay attention to it; most times, the radio just plays as back sounds. A few times, I even try to mimic what they said as I know I have problems on pronouciation from time to time.

Dear Torsten,
I'd like to improve my English both speaking and writing.I've started to listening BBC news in the evening.I can't give attention while driving because of heavy traffic.Usually I'm watching and hearing BBC news through net.Recently I started to write it down while listening,But it's too difficult to write it down at the same time.Today I tried to write about Iraq inquiry and I was able to write a
little.I'll not give up this exercise it'll continue untill to acheive my goal and a full detailed report will be posted in future.

I truly agree with the Idea given by Torsten.
If you want to improve your english you have to make commitment to yourself. You have to go through your goals then only you are able to get success.

I think, we should spend time in english stuffs, listen english musics (but not Rap or Hiphop), watch english movie. If i have a free time, i watch english and american movies (mostly i do not like so much) with english subtitles. And it really works.. Without subtitles, movies could be quiet hard to understand because of accent.. And find some musics which you like and find lyrics of it.. than try to sing a song.. I think, we should live ''english language''.

Hello Dinesh Kumar, thank you very much for your interesting question. Now, how exactly did you learn your native language? When you were a child and you heard a phrase or word for the first time did you rush to a dictionary immediately to look it up? You didn't. Instead, you just ignored it. Your subconscious mind absorbed it though and when you heard the word again your brain recognized its sound patterns. What you need to do is complete the 30/30 Challenge. Then we can talk again. So the question is do you understand what you need to do in order to meet The Challenge? Also, if you really want to improve your English you need to change some of your habits. It's like with any other skill you want to acquire. Don't be sloppy. Pay great attention to details. For example, have you ever seen the word 'i'? No, you haven't. So why do you use it? What about the word 'english'? It doesn't exist. So why use words that don't exist?

Best regards,
Torsten

Hi, I can change my habits very easily. I'm proud to say that I stopped thinking in my own native language long before. I think in English, write in English and my day starts with English speech with my husband. Saying ''hello'' then watching CNN and BBC news. After that preparing materials for my English Classes. Friends communicating only in English. As you see this is a chalenge for me cause I 'm living out of my native country. In Short All day is full of with ''ENGLISH'' >

Dear Torsten,
Thank you for all good things that I've learned here. It's a great idea! I will try to follow your instructions. I'm not so sure that I can do this every single day because of my children. Sometimes I don't have enough time even for sleeping so I'll try to do this every second day. We will see the result. :)
Best regards,
