TOEFL essay sample

The idea of having a single career is becoming an old fashioned one. The new fashion mil be to have several careers or ways of earning money and further education will be something that continues throughout life.
Use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Throughout the history, people had seen and are seeing a lot of changes. One of those changes is the tendency in choosing profession. In the past, people preferred having a single career in a single profession, and tried to become a Maestro in that profession. Yet in our modern life, people usually look for chances by different ways, for example working in several places or continuing education. It is difficult to say what is better, but I would like to go deeper into the raised issue.

In the past time, regions isolated from each to others. People could focus and enhance own abilities in only one thing: planting some kinds of fruits, feeding animals, etc. Their products then were bought by the other regions. The better their products were, the more money they could get. There were villages, where all people had the same profession, and their villages became famous by their products.

But in our modern life, everything is changed. Thanks to better methods of transport, faster way to communicate each to other, people becomes more and more connected. Everything can be copied and duplicated, yet can be even developed to the better. Tradition Maestro can not be confident anymore because of the competition of new engineers, new technologies.

Some people become richer and richer, their products become better and better and sometimes they force other people to the unemployment because the second group of people can not produce as good as the first one. They then have to find other careers. It becomes true that the more things people can do, the more chances they could have to find a good job. Some people decide to have several jobs to get more salaries; other people continue their further education to look for better chance to get jobs. Maybe, it is safer way to survive?

It can be seen that, the choice having only one career or finding chances in many profession and further education is not just a fad. It is mainly because of demand to survive of people.

Hi gianglt,

My comments are attached:

Quote:
Throughout (the) history, people had/HAVE seen and are seeing a lot of changes. One of those changes is/THE WAY PEOPLE CHOOSE THEIR PROFESSION the tendency in choosing profession. In the past, people preferred having/TO HAVE a single career in a single profession, and tried to become a Maestro/AN EXPERT in that profession. Yet in our modern life, people usually look for chances by/IN different ways, for example working in several places or continuing education. It is difficult to say what is better, but I would like to go deeper into the raised issue/THE ISSUE RAISED

In the past (time) regions WERE isolated from /ONE ANOTHER each to others. People could focus and enhance THEIR own abilities in only one thing: planting some kinds of fruits, feeding animals, etc. Their products then were bought by (the) other regions. The better their products were, the more money they could get. There were villages, where all people/EVERYBODY had the same profession, and their villages became famous by/FOR their products.

But in our modern life, everything is changed. Thanks to better methods of transport, faster wayS to communicate each to other/WITH EACH OTHER, people becomes/BECOME more and more CLOSELY connected. Everything can be copied and duplicated, yet/AND can be even BETTER developed (to the better). THE TraditionAL Maestro/EXPERT cannot be confident anymore because of the competition of new engineers, new technologies.

Some people become richer and richer, their products become better and better and sometimes they force other people INto (the) unemployment because the second group of people cannot produce as good/WELL as the first one. They then have to find other careers. It becomes true that the more things people can do, the more chances they could/CAN have to find a good job. Some people decide to have several jobs to get more/LARGER salaries; other people continue their further education to look for A better chance to get jobs. Maybe, it is safer way to survive?

It can be seen that, the choice having only one career or finding chances in many professionS and further education is not just a fad. It is mainly because of THE demand FOR PEOPLE TO SURVIVE to survive of people
