Hi

Please look at the given sentence that I took from a book by an Indian author:

1- After that incident, I fell in my own eyes.

Do you think it is correct? Are there better substitutes?

Hi Tom

There's not much context there. Does the author mean "lost some of my self-esteem/self-respect" Question

Yes Amy

The intended meaning is: I am ashamed of myself after the incident.

Hi Tom

Why not say it that way? The word "eyes" is often used in phrases indicating an opinion or judgement.
