Dear Alan, Yankee and Mr. Mcawber, I have written an TOEFL essay and I want you to score it.

TOEFL essay sample

"People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new experiences, career preparation, increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer."

In a college or university one can find both the inspired students and the disgruntled, pleasure-seeking students. There are also students who want to reach to the top of the ladder. Each one has their own set of reasons for attending a college different from every other person. Here I compose an essay to throw some light on some of the reasons.

To begin with, one primary reason I believe, is to a get a diploma or degree, which nowadays is a prerequisite for getting a good job. Thus, such people attend college just for self establishment and higher salary after graduation.

Some of them attend college because they have been forced by their parents to do so or just because this is what everyone does and so even they have to do it. It is always easier to go with the norms. And so the rationale behind attending college for such students is just to seek pleasure.

Another important reason for people to attend college would be their thirst for knowledge. Learning is an act of love for this student. He goes to college not for pleasure, power, success or because he needs to, but because he loves to.

On the other hand some people attend college in order to get excellence in the field they want to excel in. Through rigorous academic courses and with their firm determination they make their dreams come true.

Besides these, one crucial catalytic agent in drawing people to colleges and universities is the media. Nowadays several modes of advertisements have come up, which lures the fresh student community to aspire for top notch institutions.

Last but not the least some of them attend college or universities not only to obtain academic excellence but also to acquire certain skills such as that of critical thinking, organizational behaviour as well as the art of communicating.

As far as I am concerned I have to master my skills and employ my merits in fierce competition. Other the other hand learning new things and acquiring new skills have also tempted me to attend college.

To conclude universities are home to knowledge and skills. The plethora of resources one avails here cannot be matched anywhere else. Today hundreds of people join colleges and universities for one of the reasons mentioned above.

Hi,

My suggestions are in CAPITAL letters:

Quote:

Each one has their own set of reasons for attending a college different from every other person. Here I compose an essay to throw some light on some of the reasons.

To begin with, one primary reason I believe, is to a get a diploma or degree, which nowadays is a prerequisite for getting a good job. Thus, such people attend college just for self establishment and A higher salary after graduation.

Some of them attend college because they have been forced by their parents to do so or just because this is what everyone ELSE does and so even/ALSO they have to do it. It is always easier to go with the norms. And so the rationale behind attending college for such students is just to seek pleasure.

Besides these REASONS, one crucial catalytic agent in drawing people to colleges and universities is the media. Nowadays several modes/TYPES of advertisements have come up, which lure(s) the fresh student community to aspire for/TO top notch institutions.

Last but not the least some of them attend college or universities not only to obtain academic excellence but also to acquire certain skills such as that of critical thinking, organizational behaviour as well as the art of communicating.

As far as I am concerned I have to master my skills and employ my merits in fierce competition. Other/ON the other hand learning new things and acquiring new skills have also tempted me to attend college.
