For a Russian speaker it sounds exactly as the English word 'slime'. _________________ It’s impossible to learn swimming without entering the water…

| 'Sleaze' isn't a word I'm very familiar with. Curiously, for me it conjures up something 'slippery' or, as for Tamara, 'slimy'. |

Hi Alan,
There is a rap song by 2pac that contains the phrase in a sleazy way:
"I made a G today. But you made it in a sleazy way sellin' crack to the kids."
I think this example also gives you an idea of what sleazy means. _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Hi Torsten,
It has a strong link with dishonest or corrupt management in the eyes of the press here and it is directed at political parties. The administration prior to the current one was ousted, so it is said, by sleaze and now the present administration is accused of being even sleazier. There is perhaps a lesson that leaders of political parties should not stay in power too long because after a while they believe they can walk on water. And that's just when they start to sink.
