Why it is "like " instead of "liked " ?
Question

Hi

The answer is "liked" (not "like").

You need "liked" because it refers to a time in the past: "when I was a child".

Actually, it is 'liked', which is the past tense of 'to like'.

Can't be 'would like to climb' in this sentence for repeated activity in the past : 'liking to climb'?

Hi Saneta

To refer to a habitual or often repeated past activity (such as "climb"), you could possibly use "would" this way, for example:

When I was a child, I was fascinated by hot air balloons. Whenever I spotted one in the sky, I would climb to the top of our big old oak tree and wave excitedly.

Dear Teachers

Please guide

Is this correct sentence?

I think looking after the nature is very important.

I was attempting a test and they found a mistake that "the" should not be used in the above sentence but I couldn't understand the logic that why "the" will not use.

thanks in advance

Hi,

'Nature' is an abstract noun and so no article is needed.

Misskhan you probably wanted to write:,,I was attempting a test and they found a mistake that "the" shouldn't be used in the above sentence...'', right? shouldn't not should?
