What is the meaning of
"just as", "company", "business", "so" in:

Just as large companies are having to cut back, so small businesses are being forced to close.

Thanks
K

P.s: "company" and "business" in this case are interchangeable?

Hi,

In your sentence:

Quote:
Just as large companies are having to cut back, so small businesses are being forced to close.
the meaning is: In the same way that large companies ....likewise small companies ...

Companies would refer to particular named commercial concerns. Businesses would refer in a general sense to a all commercial enterprises.
