Hi

Could you please tell me if the first half of the word champion is also pronounced as "cheim-...",sort of rhyming with "tame"? I think it is "champ" rhyming with "camp".

The champ in "champion" rhymes with camp, lamp, ramp, vamp, tramp, etc.
