Hi

Could you please tell me if the first half of the word champion is also pronounced as "cheim-...",sort of rhyming with "tame"? I think it is "champ" rhyming with "camp".

The champ in "champion" rhymes with camp, lamp, ramp, vamp, tramp, etc.

Do you have speakers attached to your PC? You can listen to a recording of the pronunciation of words on a lot of websites. For example:
