Mike: 'You know he failed all his examinations?'
Jane: '.........'

(a) I must believe it.
(b) I don't believe it.
(c) I might believe it.
(d) I ought to believe it.

Test No. incompl/elem-28 "Responses", answer 6

Mike: 'You know he failed all his examinations?'
Jane: 'I don't believe it.'

Correct answer: (b) I don't believe it.

Your answer was: incorrect
Mike: 'You know he failed all his examinations?'
Jane: 'I might believe it.'

why the answer of the question is such,it might be" i might beleieve".

The other person replying is expressing surprise and is therefore saying I find it very difficult to believe.

Hello Alan,
Could you explain me the phrase "I ought to believe it."
For a start without doubt I thought that this variant is right, but, when I've clicked for the explanation there correct answer is otherwise
