"I am worried about what seems to be an increasing antipathy toward the media and concurrent attempts to narrow the doors leading into courtrooms by distinguishing ancillary or supplemental proceedings (what is a supplemental proceeding?) from trials themselves."

What is the above sentence trying to say?

(By the way, I had enormous difficulties accessing this forum earlier today. Whenever I tried to display it, some popup would come up telling me to update my Realplayer, I wonder why?)

Hi Cooliegirly, Hi Tom, Wink

The writer remarks the media is increasing disliked (apparently by the courts) and that there is a trend to attempt to limit public access to courtroom activity by saying that certain legal proceedings are not actually trials and therefore are not open to the public.
