Hi

Look at the test question again:
Quote:
......... is the highest ranking official in the United States?
The correct answer is "Who" because the word "is" is already in the sentence.

If the word "is" hadn't already been in the test sentence, then "Who's" would have been correct.

I think you should ask like this: what does "highest ranking official" mean?
I think it's the official who has the highest position in the country: the president in the USA.

Hi Torsten

Questions 6 and 7 need repair in this test.

In sentence 6, the word 'has' should be removed from the test question.
In sentence 7, the word 'is' should be removed from the test question.
(The words 'has' and 'is' could either remain in the solutions or the solutions should both be who's.)

Alternatively, option (a) for both questions could be changed to "Who".

Hi Amy,

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I've removed "has" and "is".

Oh, dear! Torsten, I think I may have now caused you some needless work. Embarassed

Did both questions already have 'who' as one of the solution options?
Sorry, if 'who' was already an option, then there was no problem in those sentences and obviously I haven't yet had enough coffee this morning. Rolling Eyes
