Hi,

Why you use "stride" not "striding" in the following sentence? Is it incorrect to say "striding"?

A moment later I saw her stride into the room, proud of her success.

Thanks.

Striding also is possible.Srtiding expresses a process while stride a completion, finished action. Am I right, Alan?

Hi ladies Very Happy

My personal preference would be stride because stride more or less means "enter" in the sentence ("stride into the room") and that's a short act rather than a process. Wink

I'd like striding better if the sentence were "...striding across the room..."

Quite reasonable, Amy. But I know people that can stride into the room very slowly. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Cool
But if someone's striding becomes too slow, then it might be best not to call it 'striding' anymore. Wink
