Smoking some weed is a felony Fri Aug 25, 2006 14:28 pm  Smoking some weed is a felony

Hi everyone,

Although I don't smoke, this is one of my favourite subject if I want to have a fight with a friend of mine.
I think it's not right that smoking some weed is a felony, but drinking alcohol is not.

What do you think of this?

When I was a stupid guy in my 20s, a lot of stupider guys would say to me, "Hey! You drink alcohol, so why don't you smoke weed?" My answer was always that I already have one evil vice, so I don't need a second one.

I have been around drinkers and people who use drugs, and I worked for a while in a drug crisis center. I have never seen anyone graduate from beer to PCP, cocaine or heroin, but nearly everyone I had to deal with who was on these dangerous drugs began with a marijuana habit. And sometimes the marijuana is laced with other, more dangerous drugs to enhance the high.

I think possessing any amount of weed should be a felony.

Hi Spencer

When you say "weed", I guess you're not talking about plants such as dandelions, are you? Laughing

I definitely see your point. To me, one doesn't really seem to be much worse (or better) than the other. But, since I rarely drink alcohol and never smoke 'weed', I'm also not really in a position to make a judgment.

But, what Jamie wrote about (people starting with marijuana and then "graduating" to more hardcore drugs) is something I've read about before.

I believe you Jamie, but if you don't want to be a criminal you still can drink beer as much as you want.
If you smoke, that means you do it because you don't care about the law, or you want to look tougher by braking the law. If you do this, there is nothing that can stop you from taking harder stuff.
There might be people, who drink instead of smoking because they don't want to be bad, and they believe it's not that harmful as smoking.
You don't know anyone who took drugs as next step from alcohol, but I know a lot of people who became alcoholist, and died, or still alive if you can call it being alive.
Why should be better to be an alcoholc than a drug addict?
How many percent of the family-abusers is caused by a drunk husband? How many family had been taken apart because of alcohol?
One of my friends said once, if two alcoholic meet there will be a knife involved sooner or later, if two smokers, they'll talk a bit, and go home.
Anyway, I don't say that smoking is good, or bad, but I'm sure it's not worse than alcohol.
They tell you reasons why they let you buy this,or that, but the only reason is money again, as always.
If they worry about your health then why don't they stop selling alcohol, cigarette, coffee, pills, up and downs.
Government is not our parents, they're just a bunch of politicans.
They don't give a damn about us, trust me.

I think that all bad habits bring too much harm to one's health. We shouldn't differentiate between them pondering which is less harmful. To a considerable extent they destroy our personality. I share Jamie's viewpoint that possessing any amount of weed should be a felony. When I studied at the University I attended many lectures about drug addiction held by Red Cross. It's aim was to prevent drug spreading among the young generation. I should admit that these lectures made a great impact on the students and brought positive results. In companies I usually drink juice and never yield to my friends' persuasion to make a slightest drop of wine Very Happy

What effect does drugs have? Fri Aug 25, 2006 21:10 pm  What effect does drugs have?

Now, please don?t feel shoked: I myself have some experience with drugs (so called soft one?s but also some heavy one?s). Weed itself reminds me to a sort of marihuana (oi called "Nepal Weed") I sometimes (trust me, some ten years ago) fetched from the netherlands. Possibly you know about the Dutch coffee-shops? Why did I do that? Well, it brought me up a pleasant feeling I mean not experiencing my body, but also tiredness. And the next day or after having a cape of sleep I felt not as well as my body had to degull the poison. In that situation having the next joint or sniff might help to stand that situation but don?t really bring satisfaction. That is what can make one adicted. It?s just a fallacy.

Now, if somebody is able to use weed for relaxation, I think that might be right, but they always have to be aware its danger. But surely this fits to every sort of drugs, no matter whether it is alcohol or marihuana or LSD or what ever.

Michael

P.S. LSD is rather rather dangerous as its effects you never can anticipate!

Personally, I think that young man knows the rules AND the exceptions, but the middle-aged man knows why there should seldom be exceptions. It's important to know that the rules are more important than the exceptions, and that one or two exceptions do not disprove a rule.
