It means that the teacher is giving you a task. Please note the correct spelling of the word 'assignment'.

As I understand it, to "shrink" jokingly describes the physical reaction to the thought of something mentioned by the other person which is due to a feeling of embarrassment or uneasiness. Search results for this phrase seem to support this explanation: "I shrink to think on the mass of sorrow I have brought upon my daughters." "and I shrink to think what will be left of our futures and our children's economic futures if left ..." |
