So, have you read Alan's latest newsletter issue "
Potatoes"
yet? If not, you really should because it's another of his famous essays on English expressions. This time he explores phrases and idioms that include the word chip. Also, you can learn about the fact that the British have a British Potato Council and that there is a difference between chips (as in Fish and Chips) and French fries. And did you know that there are quite a few phrasal verbs with chip? Interestingly enough Alan uses another expression in his current newsletter: a splendid chap. See the connection between chip and chap Smile?
