When a person is editing his or her post, does it disappear from the forum index or stays there?

Tom, to edit means to change. To delete means to remove. So when you edit your post, you change its content rather than removing it.

While you edit your post, your initial post will be in the forum until you click submit, then your post will be the same as the one you edited...
