I'm not a teacher, but let me try to help you. The complete phrase has two parts: 1) The law has just been passed = it was just approved. 2) but we don't know until we've put it to the test = However until this law be tested we don't know it complete if it wil be ok or not. Regards |

Hello Juanfrausto
Thank you very much for your help. Although you are not a teacher but your explanation is very easy for me to understand and I'm convinced your English is much better than me. There is a Vietnamese proverb that more one word or even a half of word is a teacher. So If any question you can explain, please help me. I'll appreciate your kindness.
Best regards for you _________________ Reach an agreement as ploughing, don't let argument happen at crops. |

Hello,
This idiom is: put sth to the test or put sth to the proof it means we test the truth of something. For exp: -Let's put this theory to the proof. -The crisis put his courage and skill to the test.
