I'm a law student and I've always heard the English expression "due process of law".

So, why can't it be process?
I really don't understand the differences between process, lawsuit.

And trial could be replaced by jugdement?

.
I am not really clear on what bothers you, Marcio. Due process (of law) is a set phrase (i.e. it is used as an unchanging unit) meaning:

'the administration of justice according to established rules and principles; based on the principle that a person cannot be deprived of life or liberty or property without appropriate legal procedures and safeguards'.

Also, a judgment is what takes place at the end of, or as a result of a trial.

I hope this helps.
