1.What do you think the best treatments are for each problem?

2. What do you think is the best thing to take for a cold?

a/Why in (1), the best treatments are ?
Why in (2), is the best thing ?

b/ Both are correct in standard grammar? If not, please fix the mistakes.

Why in (1), ..treatments are... but not are the treatments.....
Why in (2), ..is the best thing ... but not the best thing is.....

Is there a rule? Why 2 sentences with 2 structures different?

What is the best thing to take for a headache?
Aspirin is the best thing to take for a headache.

Do you think aspirin is the best thing to take for a headache?
What do you think is the best thing to take for a headache?

Dear teacher,

Please read:

What do you think the best treatments are for each problem? (1)

(1) is correct? Or I have to write as follows:

What do you think are the best treatments for each problem? (2)

I think (2) is correct , (1) is incorrect but (1) appeared in my grammar book. How about your opinion about (1)?
