Dear teachers,

Please read:

1.The book that is on the table is mine.
2.A book that is on the table is mine.

I think only (1) is correct. Is it right? Could you tell me the rule?

If there were many books on the table and only one of them was yours, then it would be best to say "One of the books that are on the table is mine."

I I dont want to say:One of the books that are on the table is mine.

and I say:

A book that is on the table is mine. (2)

In the mentioned situation, (2) is correct in grammar?
