Opportunity vs. possibility Sat Nov 20, 2004 23:03 pm  Opportunity vs. possibility

I think it's a very race case that two words are interchangeable completely. Why have two different words when you can convey exactly the same meaning with just one word? In fact you will be very hard pressed to find any word that can be replaced by another without changing the meaning at least very slightly.
Opportunity certainly implies that the situation carries a potential chance of achieving something positive. When you take an opportunity you use the circumstance to your advantage turn them into a favourable result. Possibility is just the condition or fact of being possible. Something may or may not happen.
