Theoretically, both sentences could mean the same thing.
A native speaker probably wouldn't ever use sentence b.

Hi,

Meet is acceptable in your sentence in the sense of come across. It sounds a bit pretentious though. If you do use it in that sense, I think you have to make the object a little fuller as in:

In the course of your reading you will probably meet many examples of phrasal verbs.

It still sounds a bit teacherish to me and also patronising.
