Dear Teachers,

Could you please see the sentence below and explain me which is the error in the sentence?

Leading scientists are often the kinds of person who have enjoyed intellectual challenges all their lives.

Thanks in advance.

It looks like a mess. Here is one solution:

Leading scientists are often the kind of people who have enjoyed intellectual challenges all their lives.

Hi Teacher, Very Happy

Thank you for error identification. But right there is it possible to say "the kinds of persons"?? Very Happy Why do you use "a singular noun" of "kind of" here?

To be honest, I'm not comfortable with the sentence at all, but it seems to me that 'people who have enjoyed intellectual challenges all their lives' = one kind of people. The same could be said of scientists.

Oh, I don't know-- why don't we cast it in the singular, for instance?--

A leading scientist is often the kind of person who has enjoyed intellectual challenges all his or her life.
