Scored 7/10. I learn some lessons: Not to underestimate something unless you
have a firm grasp of it. Some questions appear quite simple but very subtle to deal with.

The first in the series of my trial assessments.
Many thanks, Torsten

Well it seems quite complicate to get the difference between "end and finish" but I think We just need some tips to make it easy.Usually "finish" goes after an noun with the meaning completion anhd "end" means something is over. However we have to learn some exceptions such as "finishing school, finish with...".
That's all I want to share .Thanks and see you again!

Hi, again
The score was 4 to 10. I found that finish = the temporal end. General speaking the sentence must to have "a sound".
Am I right?

Hi Torsten,
I have tried the test, and it was fun, though it is elementary. Actually, what I need to know more are the adverbs. Today, I was able to learn about it, just have forgotten the rules. Thanks for this program via internet. I am sure, I will learn some more things from this.

To MR.Micawber
dear teacher thanx 4 your great explanation just I have a problem with this example
(She ended her concert with three songs by Schubert.)
it really confuses me why dont u said : SHE FINSHED HER CONCERT.
BECOASE:I think she will have other concerts in the future .do u mean she will never have concert in the future in this statement.

dear Torsten,
Sorry for the late answer. My network did not connect for some days . I got 7 out of 10. But I really did the exercise with my habit . accrding to your explanation, I understand that "end " means "stop" in nature and "finish" means " try to stop". Is it right?
Thanks alot

No, that's not correct, Bichlien.

Please read Alan's explanation here.

Hello Clara,

That's a phrasal verb. When two people end a relationship the fixed expression is that they have finished with the other person.

You can find it here:

Good morning. This lesson showed us what the difference between finish and end is or better said, should be. I work among British and American people and I can assure you that few of them know how to explain the difference. Anyway, I found it really hard to get the last answer right, but reading your response in this post helped me out of it. Thanks a lot!!
