The chief editorial concern in magazine publishing is presenting a mix of news, information, and entertain, all target at the audience magazine seeks to reach.

I am not sure of which among four underlines is wrong. Please help!

.
In the prepositional phrase, [a mix] of news, information, and entertain, all the listed items must be nouns, in parallel. But one of them is a verb-- you need to change it to a noun form.

Does that help?

I am of the same opinion. I'm pretty sure Deme will find the very verb.

Typo? #4 (permalink) Tue Oct 10, 2006 9:08 am   Typo?

There's something else that bothers me here:

all target at the audience magazine seeks to reach.

This phrase as it stands doesn't make much sense. Perhaps there's been a typo and the article 'the' (+ magazine) was left out.

Hi Conchita,

Me too. I mean I'm bothered, too. The sentence needs doctoring:

Quote:
The chief editorial concern in magazine publishing is presenting a mix of news, information, and entertainMENT, all OF WHICH target (at - DON'T REALLY NEED THIS LITTLE FELLOW) the audience THE magazine seeks to reach.

How's about that?

Ah, that's better, Alan! The sentence stands on its own two feet now.

I like your use of the word 'doctoring'. For a moment I had a fleeting image of you carrying a first-aid kit!

After looking up the word, I'd say you meant 'repairing'.

Hi, Conchita!
I have a small question here. What is a "typo"?

Hi SkiIucK,
A typo is a typographical error - it's when you are typing something on the keyboard but accidentally press the wrong key or miss a word or something like that.
See Google "define: typo"

Hi Mitko

First, I'd also like to welcome you to the forum. :D

In addition to what sls wrote about the word typo:
That's a short form of the expression "typographical error". People often make typos simply because they are typing too fast or carelessly, and not because they don't know how to spell the word.

However, some people who don't know how to spell very well will try to convince you that all of their spelling mistakes were "just typos".
