I have seen the verb "help" used in these two ways:
"he was helping him do the work"
or
"he was helping him to do the work"
also
"can you help Jhon find the car"
or
"can you help Jhon to find the car"

Which one is the correct, was is the difference?

Hi Richard,

Both versions are correct - you can use help + to + base verb or help + base verb.

There has been a tendency to shorten certain constructions and this is one of them.
