Dear teachers,

I got confused about the way how to use "another " and "other" properly. :?

"I have two cars. One is white, and the other is red."

Is this correct? If I want to use "another " in this sentence, can I make it as follows?

I have two cars.
One is white, and another is red.
One is white, and another one is red.
(Shouldn't I put "the" in front of another, should I?)

Thank you very much for your help in advance.

Dear Kumi, So you have two cars - that's very good ;-)
One is probably a Mercedes and the other a Chrysler?

I have another (different) make, a French one.

Here is another (one more) example:

- This pen doesn't work. Could you give me another one (another pen/a differen pen) please?

Hi Cowboy, 'at all' is usually used in connection with verbs such as in 'I don't like cars at all' or 'This scarf doesn't suit you at all.'

As for having cars - I guess you can either have one or you can't.

Hi, Torsten. Many thanks. Frankly speaking, I don't like cars at all.

Dear Torsten,

Many thanks for your reply. :D
Now, the way how to use them is getting clearer for me. So I can't put the and another together.

Many thanks again for your help. :D
