"Corporates" used as a noun isn't all that surprising. After all, if we can talk about "multinationals", why not "corporates"? :lol:
Seriously, though, I think the word "corporates" is often (usually?) used when referring to corporate bonds.
The usage of "corporates" instead of the word "corporations" also wouldn't sound strange to me, though. Especially in "headline English."

Hi Amy, thanks a lot for sheding some light on the use of 'corporate'. You are right, I found that phrase on a corporate website (where else ;-)) so I guess it's part of modern corporate speak...
