The police officer told the children always to tell the true.

What it's the difference between true and truth, please help me understand?

True is the adjective or describing word and truth is the noun or substantive.

So if you describe something exactly as you saw it -

You tell the truth

or

You tell a true story

As far as I`m concern the main idea of the sentence: children must be honest, as well as information can be false or true both
