tae_way,
If you close a door, won't you be doing it for yourself/your own safety? Why would you want to close the door for "night"? Unless there's a person called "Night". |

Welcome, Tae Way!
You could also lock the door for the night, though, meaning during the night. |

Hi,
I would recommend 'at night' in the test sentence. 'For the night' suggests that you have done something that will be effective for the rest of the night as in: The animals have all been put into the enclosure for the night and will be let out early in the morning.

'At night' is correct in the test question above.
at night = in the night-time.
for the night = for the duration of the night. through the night = throughout the duration of the night.
'for night' is incorrect. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |
