What time is it?

9:00
It is nine o’clock.
It is nine.

4:20
It is twenty past four.
It is four twenty.

6:45
It is a quarter to seven.
It is six forty-five.

11:15
It is a quarter past eleven.
It is eleven fifteen.

3:30
It is half past three.
It is three thirty.

9:00 a.m.
It is nine o’clock in the morning.
‘a.m.’ stands for ‘ante meridiem’ which means: before midday


9:00 p.m.
It is nine o’clock in the evening.
‘p.m.’ stands for ‘post meridiem’ which means: after midday


Be careful:
12:00 a.m. : It is midnight.
12:00 p.m. : It is noon.

Exercise:
What time is it?
a) 9:40 a.m. , b) 6:12 p.m. , c) 2:30 p.m. , d) 5:00 a.m. , e) 10.15 a.m. , f) 7:47 p.m.

over here in canada we just say the numbers, so like 9:40 is nine fourty. none of this half past 3 or whatever haha, just say three thirty.

Hi,

The first 29 minutes go with 'past', then it's 'half past'. After that, it's '29 minutes to', '21 minutes to', '12 minutes to', '2 minutes to' etc

now i have learned to say time exactly.

when the time is between 1 minutes to 29 i have to use past. like 24 minutes pasted eleven. when the time is 11.30 . i have to say half past eleven. when the time has crossed half past 11. 30. i have to say.

28 minutes to 12 am.

23 minutes to 12. am.

did i get you exactly?

now i got my spelling mistakes. i wrote 24 minutes pasted elven but it should be 24 minutes past elven.
