Hi Che, originally I'm from the German side of Ore Mountains near the Czech border. Now I live in Leipzig. Have you heard of that city? What about you, you said you are from Tbilisi, what you like about your place? I have a friend who was born and raised in Gory. By the way, I know a couple of words in Georgian. This means, I can pronounce them but I can't write them...

online: http://www.onelook.com/ - in fact, this is a dictionary website that covers a set of good dictionaries http://www.bartleby.com/61/ - American Heritage Dictionary
In addition to dictionaries, I strongly recommend you to google a word - to see how it is actually used. And by whom. :) Also it’s useful to have a look at some examples of its ‘proper’ use in BNC (British National Corpus) http://www.natcorp.ox.ac.uk/
To be honest, I sometimes use http://multitran.ru/ (Russian-English multi-dictionary system) :) But be careful with it. Its (descriptive) definitions are generally OK, but I had many cases when native English speakers (even ESOL teachers :) ) didn’t accept (even didn’t understand :)) examples it gives. Neither as BrE, nor as AmE. :)

Hi Torsten
I'd say Tom has soccer on the brain... I'm duly amazed that he's acquainted with the names of some German players. :D
