Hi,

In Brazil We call shows like "Lost" TV Series. My favorite serie is Supernatural. I like the way they (the boys) deal with strange and supernatural things without fear and with a lot of knowledge

Anyone here knows Supernatural ? What is your favorite of serie ?

Hello, M_Murdock!

What a coincidence, in Bulgaria we call them TV series too Wink Nice topic indeed.
I'm sorry to say I hadn't heard of "Supernatural", but, judging by the article about it in Wikipedia, it looks fascinating. I figure it is similar to X-Files, isn't it?
Anyway, my all-time favourites are the popular sitcom Friends and the sci-fi series Babylon 5. From the documentaries on the Discovery Channel I used to watch Brainiac: Science Abuse and its American counterpart Mythbusters.

My favorite series is a cartoon show called "King of the Hill". It's about a very average family in Texas. The fact that they're so average is part of what makes them interesting. The husband sells "propane and propane accessories". The wife is a proud substitute teacher of Spanish, but her Spanish is absolutely horrible. The son is a little too creative for the dad to understand.

You can look at them here:

Hi Jamie (K),

Your favourite TV series sounds very interesting - I really wish I could watch it myself! What do you think of the son?

The son is a good character. A typical confused 12-year-old who once in a while is wiser than the adults.

I have episodes on DVD, and sometimes I like to listen to the Spanish version to hear how they translate various things. Their giant department store, which is supposed to be like Wal-Mart, is called "Megalomart". This is a very hard name to translate, because it's a combination of "mega", meaning huge, "low", for low prices, and "mart", which means market. However, the beginning of the name simultaneously sounds like the word "megalomaniac". The people who translate the show into Spanish don't even try to match this, and they just have the characters saying "supermercado", which just means supermarket.

Heroes (NBC)

Is Dream Team still on TV in the UK?

Re-run episodes are shown weekly on Fox Soccer Channel.

I'm into action and anything related to the military. My favorites are JAG, NCIS, The Unit and E-Ring. We used to have Soldier of Fortune and the British show Ultimate Force on Cable before. Military and government jargons galore. Smile

I also watch sitcoms. My personal favorite is The Drew Carey Show and the improvisational comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? I also watch stand-up comedy acts on Premium Blend. This is for me a real test of your ability to understand English. This is what I would like to call (when I make my students watch it) "The Comedy Test." If you're not laughing, that means you don't get the gag. Smile
