TOEFL essay: What is your approach to problem solving and how does it work... Thu Nov 16, 2006 16:50 pm  TOEFL essay: What is your approach to problem solving and how does it work...

What is your approach to problem- solving and how does it work for you ?Use specific details to support your response

Some of the ways I tackle an issue is by seeing the pros and cons of a problem ,preparing a schedule for myself or just by flipping a coin.I shall explain below how and when I use the above three ways.

The problem most of the time I face is during an exam.I get so tensed and start to panic before an exam.So I prepare a time-table or schedule for myself to organize my work. This helps me alot .I do not waste my time unnecessarily when I follow this procedure,as I assign each task certain amount of time. This helps me to finish a task on time and never keeps my work lagging.I have also learnt not to procrastinate my work.Additionally it has improved my time management skills.

Sometimes when I am unable to make a decision I see the pros and cons of a problem.I shall explain this method with an example.I was offered two jobs at the same time. Both jobs were good and I had a tough time deciding which job to choose. Then I came up with an idea of sorting the advantages and disadvantages of the job offers and I quickly made a wise decision on which job to pick.

Last but not least ,sometimes some issues are so confusing ,that I am unable to make a decision ,in such cases I just flip a coin.Though it is not a good solution,I prefer doing this only when I have to make a decision between two good choices.

Therefore I think the above three ways of problem-solving has helped me to solve an issue wisely.
