Hi Bora, you are definitely on the right track with your English. The key is to keep a balance between 'input activities' and 'output activities'. By 'input activities' I mean such things as listening to the radio, watching TV and reading books. 'Output activities' are such things like talking with people in your neighbourhood, writing emails or forum posts and keeping a diary. Based on what you have told me, I think that you have a very good listening comprehension which is vital if you want to develop your English language skills.

As for your writing efforts, please make sure you create short sentences. Try using phrases you have seen before. I know that there is always the temptation to create Albanian sentences in your head and to translate them into English. In the beginning, it might require some self-discipline to create sentences that consist of 'correct English phrases and expressions' but it's very valuable investment that pays off in the long run.

Let me know what you think.
Torsten

Hi Torsten. I read your message, and understand. Every time I tell you thank you, because, You, this forum , and testes, are for me one teacher, and I remembering a long time ago, where in high school , my teacher russian language, ( I study russian for 8 years) and my result was very good, but, after finishing , ended, of school, , and don`t practise russian, was 20 years ago, . ......This time I believe myself is time again to learning , and English, is my obligim, . You tell me for short sentence, yes, but, I , realy think in Albanian, but, is time to change, . Before two - three months, I writing diary, and writing for my kids, because I think, after some years, where my girls grown up, and reading what mother writing.I writing in english, but, don`t forget to writing any words in Albanian, where I `m confus, and after open my book, gramatic and vocabolary english, and correct my misspelling or missing words, and sincerely don`t repeat again misspelling. . I liked to tell you, where my two girls was baby, I writing every day in dairy for my girls, in English, but before4 & 5 years ago, my english is very low, mean, and some time I reading, liked to improve, but, and liked to don`t change, maybe, this is for nostalgi, my level before and this time. I think maybe writing much, but, where I start to writing, liked to tell, to show, because I think , I founded friends, and thank you, thank you for your time, and Best wishes. sincerely Bora.

Hi, everybody! My name is Bora, I'm from Albania #11 (permalink) Tue Nov 21, 2006 20:27 pm   Hi, everybody! My name is Bora, I'm from Albania

I suggest that you listen to Euronews in English. The news are repeated and slightly updated every half an hour, so after some time you'll start to recall and predict what is to be said next. that'd be great.

you may wonder, why i said "listen to Euronews" not "watch Euronews"?
- because nobody is supposed to spend the entire day watching TV Smile You may still do your business and have the TV tuned in, as a nice old radio Wink in this case you'll learn to speak, erm - "subconsciously"!
