TOEFL essay: Learning about the past has no value for those of us living in... #1 (permalink) Mon Nov 20, 2006 21:46 pm   TOEFL essay: Learning about the past has no value for those of us living in...

This is my first toefl essay sample.

To learn from our experiences from the past and rectify the mistakes, it helps us a lot in our life. We can also help others by guiding them with our learnings from past. So i disagree that learning from past has no value.

Our present days are not giving us anything. We always accepting or we face these days as they come. But past days teach us. They are like full of experience.

I remember one event, when i used to play carrom in college, i played wrong shot & i lost my gold medal in inter college competition. i didn't select for state level tournament. Afterwards, i learned that shot & i did lot of practice & in the next year i got gold medal in inter college & i choose for state level tournament. Thus, my past year, lost in tournament give me lesson. I get time to improve myself and win competition.

Secondly, we knew that , elder people always tell us about right things because in their past they did mistake and they get learned from that.

In my opinio, learning about the past has value.

P.S. Which other points i can include in this essay??

I completely disagree with this statement. Because success is achieve when we learn from the mistakes of past.If we truly want to become a better human being, we must look back to the past misdeed in order to be a successful in the future. Past is as important as that of our present and future. Our present and future life can be a better and more purified one learning from past mistakes.
For example, We saw that 20th century is the century of wars and destructions. But the present 21st century can be a century of peace and happiness if we are able to learn from the experiences of past century. Because this world is made only for the peace loving animals including human being.
