Hi royal1
You have identified the main problem area as vocabulary. What have you already done to try to improve this area?
What about your English teacher(s) at school? Have you asked them for input?
With a 3.9 GPA, a score of 490 is unexpectedly low. But trying to increase a 490 score to 620 is a tall order. Have your SAT scores been fairly consistent? Or have you managed to improve the math part significantly? (If so, how did you do that?)
You mentioned a "required" score of 1270. Is this for just one particular college/university?

I jumped from a 1080 to 1140 by studying SAT tricks. My math went up 40.

I need that score for a 100 percent tuition state-wide scholarship. |

If you have a 4.4/3.9 GPA and receive those scores, it really points to huge grade inflation at your school (and colleges will know this, if it's true).
You could either focus on where you're weak (reading), or what I suggest would be focusing on where you're STRONG (math). You're probably more confident in math and would be more willing to learn new stuff in it. Aim for 800 and hopefully you'll get lucky on the reading section. |
