What does "perceived" mean in "perceived disadvantage" as opposed to "actual disadvantage"?

Hi apo

A "perceived disadvantage" is a disadvantage that someone senses or imagines. Because sensing or imagining something is not concrete, saying "perceived disadvantage" suggests that the disadvantage doesn't actually exist.

An "actual disadvantage" is a real one -- one that can be documented or proven in some concrete way.
