Hi Winton, welcome to our forum! As for your English, I think you have achieved an incredible level given the fact that your native language is completely different. By the way, what is your mother tongue, Mandarin? Who exactly told you that your English is Chinglish?

Talk to you soon,
Torsten

Hi Torsten , thanks a lot for your reply . yeah mandarin is my mother tongue. as for chinglish , that is to say, many chinese people can write , read , listen well but bad in oral ----such as with wrong expression ,tense and so on.
In my opinion , it is related with the surrounding (with a good english surroundings).

You are right Winton, your the level of your spoken English depends a lot on your environment and communication habits. Also, I think there is a close relation between your written language skills and your oral English. Other important factors are self-discipline and the ability to observe and analyze. How often do you get in contact with English native speakers?

it is quite few .Generally to contact with a foreigner via mail because of time differrence . Sometimes I can express my opinions in written well but spoken is too bad ,that troubles me to lose so many opportinities to promotion. I knew what the root cause but failed to keep up. Then would you advise me how I can to improve if absence of the environment ? maybe it is unrealistic Sad

Hi Winton and welcome!

I think I understand what you mean saying "Chinglish" - that must be very, VERY close to the language they speak in Singapore: though official one is English, 80% of the population is Chinese, so it is, at first, very difficult to tune in! However after several days everything settles down, so don't worry! Meaning, not words, is what actually matters! (unless you want to deceive someone)

What is written on your avatar?

i've heard that there are multiple dialects, Mandarin and Cantonese chief among them... but all are written the same (one written language).

Is that the case?
