do you with the old ways in education? Confused

when I was in elementary school, our teacher used to
between lectures ask us quick questions around the mathematics especially in (multiply).
the student who give him correct answer and fast too, the teacher will give (himher) one star... Very Happy

that's meaning when any student did bad thing. Twisted Evil
the teacher will see to (hisher) stars,if (heshe) has stars our teacher will take from (hisher) one star
and he won't punish (himher).........but if (heshe) didn't have any star (oh NOOOOOO....) (heshe) will take (himher) punishment.

Personally I dislike that way of education if the stars mean less than their original purpose. If I were the teacher I would give all of you stars as much as possible. But punishment would be another different thing. Who didn't have any star shouldn't be subject to being punished easily. Anyway that is still a sensitive topic!(I think), and education, itself, is a hard job. Not only to teachers but also to parents, to much extent , I think what parents can do for their kids are more important than teachers do. Do you think so??
