Can somebody explain me the meaning of case in this context?

"If the majority of injuries are serious, then a case can be made for the uselfulness of protective clothing. However, if the primary types of injuries are soft-tissue injuries then a greater case could be made for training and experience as preventive measures."

Normally, "case" means a situation or condition. The meaning Alan gave you earlier is correct but it is the other meaning used in the legal profession (used by lawyers).

I have to go with Alan here. In the context above, 'case' means argument. When lawyers use the word 'case', they generally are referring to a legal problem , or set of related problems/issues specific to a given client. For example, 'Ms Mahar's case, involving the motor vehicle accident, is a particularly troublesome one.'
