Need Help! My GRE® score was 1410

Hi,

My GRE score was 1410.

I was to apply after the completion of my graduation, but I want some advice from experienced people.Actually, I didn't do very well in the begining years of my graduation and had to face some re-appears which were successfully passed with good scores . I have drastically improved my performance in last two years and even hold a respectable University rank. The trouble is that I'm having nightmares about thinking the exams that were'nt done on the first attempt, some three years back. However, I have no concrete information about this subject and this adds to my imagination to make my condition worse! Can anyone tell me how much is this going to make an impact on my chances of getting an admission and some funding?

I am doing a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. I have some good projects in my account as well..but will that count?
please I need help .. as this is making me worse ..

Any advice from Mods? Desperate for some advice becoz the fear of rejection, due to bad performance in past, is killing me!!

Your GPA (grade point average) and your GRE scores will both be important for universities. Of course, other, more subjective things are also taken into consideration (letters of recommendation, your statement of purpose, etc.), so make sure these are excellent. That can help if your GPA and GRE scores are a little lower than a university normally accepts.

Each university is a little different when it comes to how much weight is given to the GRE and how much weight is given to GPA.

You should probably apply mainly to schools which have average admissions scores that are similar to yours (or only a little higher). If the average GRE scores at a particular university are significantly higher than yours, rejection is much more likely.

Try googling things such as "GRE GPA" or "admission criteria". Or go directly to the websites of universities you're interested in and try to get information there.
