Ay-up everyone!

What do you say we share a bit of slang? One of my currently favoured phrases is ‘bingo wings’. You might not find it amusing, but I do! If you have the wobbly, flabby, fatty bits under your arms, you might as well ‘keep your hair on’ and take it philosophically. It’s always better than a ‘slap in the face with a wet kipper’, or is it? Confused . ‘Anyroad’, as I was saying, ‘keep your pecker up’ – you don’t want to be a ‘moaning Minnie’ now, do you?

I find these quite funny, too:

Can I have a word in your shell-like (ear)?
Almond rocks = socks
Black over Bill’s mothers = It looks as if it’s going to rain
Dustbin lids = kids (wait till I tell that to mine!), also: tin/teapot/saucepan lids or God Forbids.
Moo juice = milk

Crikey, I’ve gotta 'chip' (leave) – I’m 'Cream Crackered' (knackered/tired).

Abyssinia (I’ll be seeing you)!

You probably mean '?Comprende/s eso?' (Do you understand that?). 'Eso' means 'that'.

.
Leaving Alan's post aside for the moment, of the slang that's been posted here, the only one I'd ever heard before was "moo juice". Shocked

Quite a bit of Alan's post was "foreign" to me, too. However, I did understand 'kinda' and 'noodle'. Laughing

Here are a few from th US side of the pond:

S'up? = What's up?
Jeet? = Did you eat yet?
Snail mail = what the mailman delivers to your house
La-la land = an unreal place or fantasy world
Knuckle sandwich = a punch in the mouth
Brewski = beer
Wooder = water (Philadelphia area slang)

Rap fans, unite. I'm substituting "esto" for "this" and "eso" for "that"

Snoop Double Dizzie 'n' Dre in da hizzie:

It's like esto and like eso and like esto, and uh
It's like eso and like esto and like eso, and uh
It's like esto...

So who give a [bleep] about [bleep]
So just chill... to the next episode.

hehe

hizzie = house

dizzie = D, in this case

*I am not an expert on rap slang.

--------------

crunk = crazy-drunk (Thank you, Little John)

dude = boy, man, guy

gurl = girl, woman, girlfriend, female person

chick = girl, woman, female person

homeboy/-girl = friend, pal, buddy

cous (pronounced "cuz") = pal, friend, buddy ("Wassup, cous?")

'za (pronounced "zah") = pizza

word up (or simply "word") = I agree; exactly; yes

sk8er boi = a male who skateboards (hehe... also the title of a song)

burger = hamburger

dog = hot dog (aside from the obvious application)

dog = pal, buddy, friend ("Wassup, dog?")

brat = bratwurst

brewski, liquid bread, brew = beer

ice = crystal meth (methamphetamine); jewelry

dope, powder = cocaine

dope = moron, rascal, idiot

powder = snow (actual snow)

rock = crack (other than the obvious application)

bling (or bling-bling) = jewelry, or (generally) other fine things that people wear/drive to show off their cash positions

green = money

cash = money

dough = money

bread = money

bank = money

pigs, five-oh, cops = police

cake = easy ("this is cake, man")

sugar = sweetheart, darling (aside from the obvious application)

That's enough for now, homies.

Well, don't know many English slangs . But I think they are too funny. Hi, Tom, why do you call the police as "pigs", it sounds too........ehehehe. To us non-English speakers , I think, we should avoid making uneccessary troubles when we "slang",right? Smile

Hi Conchita!

No slangy English but a pretty nice expression in French came to my mind. You probably know it:

petit chou/petit chou fleur de bretagn? Smile Whereat the second one might be used carefully as it sounds like it would be an exaggeration, doesn?t it?
